When GMC fully embraced electric vehicles, it went straight to the top, launching the Sierra EV exclusively in the top-tier Denali trim. A year later, the automaker’s sights are still aimed squarely at the premium end of the market, with the 2025 GMC Sierra EV continuing to offer innovative features.

1. Battery Pack

You can’t talk about the 2025 Sierra EV without starting with its battery pack. It’s built from modules, and those modules are built from pouch cells using nickel-cobalt-manganese-aluminum chemistry because of the material’s high energy density and operating voltage. In practice, that means long range and fast charging.

The numbers back it up. You can choose from a 170-kWh unit pack rated for 390 miles or a 205-kWh unit that stretches to 460. Keeping those packs topped up is just as flexible. At home, a Level 2 charger handles overnight charging. On the road, DC fast charging adds 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.

2. Two-Motor 4WD

In gas trucks, four-wheel drive means more parts, including, but not limited to, driveshafts, differentials, transfer cases, and tuned suspension. That’s fine for gassers because you can’t get that capability in any other way. In EVs, adding a second motor to the front axle turns a rear-wheel drive configuration into four-wheel drive. That’s what the folks at GMC did.

The payoff from this setup lands in three ways: a proper all-weather grip without the tangle of mechanical components, a cavernous cabin space (since there’s no driveshaft tunnel eating up room), and, finally, performance that pushes past truck expectations: 760 horsepower, 785 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds in Max Power mode.

3. MultiPro Midgate

Choosing the right bed size is one of the tougher parts of buying a truck. A bed that fits your needs today might come up short if your hauling demands grow. The reverse is also true. A long bed can feel like overkill if your needs shrink.

GMC’s answer is the MultiPro Midgate. You get a standard six-foot bed, but when longer items come into the picture, the midgate lets you extend the usable length to handle loads nearly 11 feet long.

4. Four-Wheel Steering

While the Sierra EV takes up a fair amount of space, it manages its size with four-wheel steering. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn opposite the fronts, shrinking the turning radius for easier parking and tight maneuvers. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn with the fronts, thereby improving stability and control.

These four are just a taste of what the 2025 Sierra EV offers. To discover more, visit us at Gay Buick GMC in Dickinson, TX.
